MTV is keeping "Fear Factor" reboot around. Following the Ludacris-hosted show's season 1 finale, the network has announced that it has renewed the unscripted competition series for a 20-part second season. According to Variety, the rapper will return as host and executive producer of the series.

"I'm looking forward to season two of 'Fear Factor' and it being more ludicrous than the first season," the "Move B***h" spitter says in a statement. "Pun intended."

"Fear Factor" originally ran on NBC from 2001 to 2006. MTV's version of the series is deemed a little less gross and a little more inspirational than the NBC version. MTV's "Fear Factor" makes its contestants face their fears in elaborate physical stunts and games inspired by scenes from well-known movies, viral videos and other pop culture-centric material. However, it still involves crazy stunts such as burying people alive.

The original show was hosted by comedian and UFC commentator Joe Rogan. NBC once revived the show in 2011, only to be canceled again in 2012. After its second cancellation, a two-part special aired in July 2012.

"Fear Factor" is one of the revival shows on MTV. The network recently announced the reboot of its dormant MTV "Unplugged" live music series as well as "MTV Beach House", "TRL" ("Total Request Live") and "Cribs" (on Snapchat).

"TRL" revival is set to debut on October 2. As Carson Daly won't be reprising his hosting duty, the new show will be hosted by five rotating hosts, which include Amy Pham, D.C. Young Fly, Erik Zachary, Lawrence Jackson and Tamara Dhia. The show will broadcast from the network's iconic Times Square studio, which has been "expanded by nearly 200 percent" to 8,700 square feet to allow for bigger audiences.
