'I think they liked me for the job because I was able with my action movies to shoot in a very short time, or with very low budgets,' reveals Roel Reine in a recent interview.

AceShowbiz - "Marvel's Inhumans" will debut in IMAX theaters across the country in just over two weeks, but fans seemingly haven't been impressed with all that the show has offered through numerous footage and photos. Roel Reine, the director of the first two episodes of the upcoming ABC series, may reveal in his recent interview with CNET why fans have found fault with the quality of the costumes, sets and special effects on the series.
During the interview, Reine suggests that he is hired to serve behind the lens for the show since he has the ability to film fast and cheaply. "I think they liked me for the job because I was able with my action movies to shoot in a very short time, or with very low budgets, action that looks like a big-budget movie," says the director, whose credits include "Death Race 2", "Dead in Tombstone", and "The Scorpion King 3: Battle For Redemption".
"It was not a feature film, it was a TV episode, but they still wanted to have the scope," he adds. "The schedule was super-tight. I had TV schedule time to shoot it with IMAX cameras, 20 days to shoot two episodes. It's nerve-wracking but I come from a low-budget film world, so 20 days for me is luxury."
However, it doesn't mean that Marvel doesn't take the show seriously. "There was always a Marvel executive around me, just to make sure that whatever I did, or whatever we did together, would tie in with other characters in other universes, in other comics, in other series or movies," the director explains. "They're very protective. These people are very passionate about their product and about characters and about doing the best version of everything."
Reine also reveals that working with Marvel isn't as terrifying as it was rumored. "I heard all of these horror stories of working with Marvel, but I didn't feel that way," Reine says. "It was very collaborative. … Nine out of 10 times they liked what I pitched-even radical things."
In related news, Marvel has released a new trailer to introduce the members of the Royal Family. Besides revealing all eight members' names, the new trailer also introduces the roles they will play in the show's narrative.
"Marvel's Inhumans" will chronicle "a race of superhumans with diverse and singularly unique powers, [which] were first introduced in Marvel Comics by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1965. Since that time, they have grown in prominence and become some of the most popular and iconic characters in the Marvel Universe. 'Marvel's Inhumans' will explore the never-before-told epic adventure of Black Bolt and the royal family."
Anson Mount stars as Black Bolt, the silent King of the Inhumans. Also starring on the series are Serinda Swan as Medusa, Isabelle Cornish as Crystal and Sonya Balmores as Auran. The cast also includes Eme Ikwuakor as Gorgon, Ken Leung as Karnak, Mike Moh as Triton, Iwan Rheon as Maximus, Henry Ian Cusick as Dr. Evan Declan and Ellen Woglom in an undisclosed role. Lockjaw the giant dog will also be featured on the series.
The eight-episode series will premiere its first two episodes on Friday, September 29 at 8 P.M. on ABC, before later airing on Friday at 9 P.M. slot. Prior to the TV debut, the first two episodes of "Marvel's Inhumans" will screen in IMAX theaters worldwide for two weeks, starting on September 1.
