The 'Sorry' hitmaker is trying to reconnect with his former girlfriend in his latest collaboration with producer BloodPop.

AceShowbiz - Justin Bieber's much-awaited new song has finally arrived online. Called "Friends", it's a collaboration between the 23-year-old Canadian star and producer BloodPop who was the mastermind behind Bieber's hit single "Sorry" from his last studio album "Purpose".

The track was co-written by Julia Michaels and Justin Tranter who also contributed to "Sorry". It tells about a guy who is trying to reconnect with the girl he used to date. While the lyrics contain desperate plea, the music is far from gloomy. It's dancey and upbeat.

"Girl, you wonderin' why I've been callin'? /Like I've got ulterior motives /No, we didn't end this so good /But you know we had something so good," Bieber sings. "So I'm wondering, can we still be friends? /Can we still be friends? Doesn't have to end /And if it ends, can we be friends? Can we be friends?"

It's unclear if "Friends" is recorded for Bieber's next studio installment, but it's his latest in the series of collaborations with other artists. He previously teamed up with Major Lazer and MO on "Cold Water", DJ Snake on "Let Me Love You", Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee on the remix of "Despacito", DJ Khaled, Chance the Rapper, Quavo and Lil Wayne on "I'm the One", and David Guetta on "2U".

Justin Bieber has just been on a lenghty world tour. His last show was on July 2 at London's Hyde Park. He was supposed to stay on the road until October. However, after being on the road for more than a year, he was forced to cancel the rest of his tour due to "unforeseen circumstances."

"Justin loves his fans and hates to disappoint them. He thanks his fans for the incredible experience of the 'Purpose' World Tour over the last 18 months," his rep said. "He is grateful and honored to have shared that experience with his cast and crew for over 150 successful shows across 6 continents during this run. However, after careful consideration he has decided he will not be performing any further dates. Tickets will be refunded at point of purchase."
