A new face from Archie Comics seemingly will be featured in the upcoming season 2 of "Riverdale". Some leaked footage from the series' audition tape has made its way out online, featuring Lorelei Linklater ("Boyhood") in what looks like her audition for the role of Toni Topaz.
Toni is one of the characters in the comics, debuting in "Jughead Double Digest" #176 back in 2012. She is a bisexual black character with her signature striking pink hair and purple clothing. In the comics, she met Jughead at a cupcake-eating contest, which brought the two in a deep bonding over similar personality quirks including a fondness for hats.
Should everything fall according to place, it is likely to turn out to be a love triangle between Jughead, Betty and Toni. Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa previously even teased that Betty was going to have a fight to keep her relationship with Jughead going. However, there is no official announcement about whether Linklater lands the role or whether Toni will really be introduced in the highly-anticipated season 2 of The CW's series.
