NBC Changes Mind, Moves 'This Is Us' Back to Tuesday This Fall

Meanwhile, the shows originally planned for Tuesdays, including 'Superstore' and 'The Good Place', move to Thursday nights.

NBC is reversing its biggest scheduling move. After announcing at its upfront presentation earlier this month that its breakout drama "This Is Us" would be moved from Tuesday to Thursday in its second season for its Must See TV lineup this fall, the network has changed its mind. The family drama is staying put on its original slot, Tuesdays at 9 P.M.

Rumor has it that the shift is done since the series would have been interrupted by NFL football coverage should it air on Thursdays. Now that "This Is Us" is shifted back to Tuesday, the show will have a continuous run of nine or 10 episodes. It's a bit strange, however, since NBC is no doubt aware of its NFL schedule before the upfront.

"We went back and forth about [moving 'This Is Us' to Thursday]," NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt told reporters at that time. Greenblatt added, "There's a case to be made for keeping the show where it was. While it's a little risky, there's a bigger case to be made about redoing Thursday night."

The network moves the shows originally planned for Tuesdays to Thursdays. "Superstore" and "The Good Place" will kick off that night at 8 P.M. and 8.30 P.M. respectively. "Chicago Fire" is also shifted from Tuesdays to Thursdays at 10 P.M.
