Russia Censors 'Beauty and the Beast' Due to Gay Character
Movie

The Disney movie starring Emma Watson and Dan Stevens gets 16-plus rating due to 'gay propaganda.'

AceShowbiz - "Beauty and the Beast (2017)" faces restriction in Russia. In the country which passed a federal law banning "gay propaganda" among minors, children under the age of 16 are not allowed to watch the live-action remake because of the gay character in the movie.

The film receives 16-plus rating after lawmaker Vitaly Milonov demanded it be banned. Milonov, a vocal opponent of LGBTQ, slammed the Disney movie as an "overt and shameless propaganda of sin and sexual perversion under the guise of a fairy tale."

Directed by Bill Condon, the movie is led by Emma Watson and Dan Stevens. In a so-called "exclusively gay moment," LeFou (Josh Gad), the sidekick to the villainous Gaston (Luke Evans), has a crush on the egotistical hunter whom he loyally follows.
