TV

Contestants who made it to the Top 4 first performed classic rock songs before later trying to impress the judges with the tracks written by Sia.

AceShowbiz - Five remaining "American Idol" contestants returned to the singing show on Thursday night, March 24. However, only four of them got to take the stage to perform rock songs and several Sia Furler-written tracks for viewers and judges Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr.

La'Porsha Renae was the first contestant making it to the Top 4. She sang a cover of Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead or Alive" and though rock clearly isn't her thing, she still did a great job. "You brought out these blues undertones and the soul and the smooth and the swagger," Keith told her. "I thought it was really, really good."

Mackenzie Bourg was also safe, putting his own spin on "I Want You to Want Me". His slowed-down acoustic version of the Cheap Trick classic was great, but the judges disagreed. J.Lo thought that his performance wasn't as exciting as she wanted it to be.

Mackenzie was forced to go completely out of his comfort zone with "Titanium". Sia urged him to go with a falsetto, something he's always afraid to do. Harry said his performance was "nice," but he's not okay with Mackenzie worrying too much about the one note.

Trent followed it up with Sia's biggest hit to date, "Chandelier". He changed the arrangement a little, but the judges liked it. "You can almost do anything, it's just your choice. The voice is consistent, though, which I love," J.Lo said.
