In response to Clarkson's allegations that she's forced to work with him, the producer shares an excerpt from Clive Davis' 2013 memoir detailing how the collaborations happened.

AceShowbiz - Dr. Luke has responded to Kelly Clarkson's not-so-nice comments about him. Following the former "American Idol" winner's interview with an Australian radio show, in which she claimed she was forced to work with the producer on some of her biggest hits, Luke denied the allegations by sharing an excerpt from Sony Music chief creative officer Clive Davis' 2013 memoir "The Soundtrack of My Life".

As previously reported, Clarkson and Luke worked together on "Since You Been Gone" and "Behind the Hazel Eyes", but she said in the radio interview that the collaborations only happened because she was "blackmailed" by her label. She personally didn't like the 42-year-old musician, saying he's "not a good person" and they'd "clashed."

Digital Spy then contacted Luke's rep, who replied to their request for comments with the excerpt detailing how Clarkson and Luke got to collaborate. It opened with Davis writing how Clarkson recorded "Breakaway", saying she initially refused to sing the song that went on to become a top 10 hit.

Davis went on sharing that Clarkson and Luke met after Max Martin came to Davis and played him some songs he co-wrote with Luke. "As we were gathering material for the album, however, I met with the songwriter-producer Max Martin, who had some songs he had written with his partner Luke Gottwald, better known as Dr. Luke, that he wanted to play for me," the excerpt continued. "He told me that because of his extensive work with the likes of Britney Spears and the Backstreet Boys, he had somewhat gotten a reputation for softer pop artists, and he wanted these songs to be done by rock artists because he was tired of being typecast."

"The songs were 'Since U Been Gone' and 'Behind These Hazel Eyes'. I heard them, and told him that I really loved them both. Then I told him that I wanted them for Kelly Clarkson. He instantly lost his cool. 'Are you crazy?' he said. 'Didn't I tell you that I wanted these songs to go to rock artists? That I didn't want to be typecast? Now you want to give them to an 'American Idol' winner!' " Davis managed to convince Martin and Clarkson eventually recorded the song.

However, Clarkson seemed to have problem working with Martin and Luke. "Max and Luke are very strong, hands-on producers in the studio. They are intent on getting perfect vocal performances, and are relentless in that pursuit. It was hard for Kelly," Davis wrote. "Kelly got her back up, and from her perspective, she had a horrible experience in the studio. She'd never work with them again, she said. Then, after all the work was done, I listened to the performances. They were terrific."

Despite the experience, Clarkson reunited with Martin and Luke for "My Life Would Suck Without You", a hit off her 2009 album "All I Ever Wanted".
