'The Revenant' won a total of five awards including the coveted Best Film, Best Actor for its star Leonardo DiCaprio and Best Director for Alejandro G. Inarritu.

AceShowbiz - "The Revenant" dominated the full winner list of the 69th British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards. The Leonardo DiCaprio-led movie came out as winner in a total of five categories, including the prestigious Best Film in which it was nominated alongside "The Big Short", "Bridge of Spies", "Carol" and "Spotlight".
DiCaprio was awarded the Best Actor trophy for his role in the film, besting fellow nominees like Bryan Cranston ("Trumbo"), Eddie Redmayne ("The Danish Girl"), Matt Damon ("The Martian") and Michael Fassbender ("Steve Jobs"). Alejandro G. Inarritu, the "Revenant" helmer, was named the Best Director.
"Mad Max: Fury Road" was the next biggest BAFTA Award winner as it collected four trophies for Hair and Make Up, Editing, Costume Design and Production Design.
The 2016 BAFTA Awards took place in London on Sunday, February 14 at the Royal Opera House. Other winners of the event included Brie Larson who took home the Best Acress Award for her role in "Room", Kate Winslet who won Supporting Actress for her work in "Steve Jobs", Mark Rylance who claimed the Supporting Actor title for his appearance in "Bridge of Spies". The Rising Star Award went to John Boyega, whose film "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" ruled the Visual Effects category.
Among other films in the winner list are "Inside Out", which won the Best Animated Film, and the Amy Winehouse biopic "Amy" that nabbed the Best Documentary gong. Meanwhile, "Carol" walked home empty-handed despite leading the BAFTA nominees with nine nods.
