Both One Direction members will reportedly join the show at the judges' houses stage, with Harry heading to Nick Grimshaw's house and Louis becoming Simon Cowell's assistant.

AceShowbiz - U.K.'s "The X Factor" lost to "Strictly Come Dancing" on Saturday, September 5's head-to-head, but the former isn't ready to give up yet. Words are, Simon Cowell is going to use his biggest ammo, bringing in One Direction's Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson to help save the show.

"Simon is pulling out the big guns as he is still determined to make this series a huge success," a source tells The Sun. "One Direction have always been big ratings winners and Louis is the most outspoken of the band. He won't be afraid to tell people if they're terrible, which Simon loves."

According to the site, Louis will join Simon at the judges' houses stage to help the British music mogul choose the contestants from his Overs category who will be taken to the live shows. Meanwhile, Unreality TV reports that Harry will assist judge Nick Grimshaw at the judges' houses stage.

On Saturday night, "The X Factor" garnered an average of 7.5 million viewers, while "Strictly" drew an average of 8.7 million viewers. A so-called insider comments on the show's ratings, "We are actually up half a million in peak viewing but we react to what's going on."

This isn't the first time Louis Tomlinson is reported to appear on the singing competition series that marked the beginning of 1D. In late August, the soon-to-be-father wrote in a series of tweets, "So does X Factor start tonight/today ? Just the premiere tonight then ha ! Got my days mixed up ! Can't wait for it to start !!" This led to speculation that he might be involved in the current season of the reality series.
