After the U.S. Supreme Court ruled to legalize same-sex marriage across the nation on Friday, June 26, Lena Dunham celebrated it with a series of tweets. In addition, the "Girls" actress directed a tweet to her boyfriend Jack Antonoff hinting that she wanted a proposal.

The outspoken advocate of LGBT rights was excited about the Supreme Court ruling as she tweeted, "Woke up to learn that love is free! Thank you to all those who fought so hard to make this historic moment happen." She added, "Weddings are about to get a lot less boring..." Amid the celebration of the ruling, Lena reminded people to keep fighting for equality. She said, "Let's use this victory as a reminder to keep pushing for equality on every frontier. We have the power!"

After a series of celebratory tweets, the 29-year-old actress obliquely asked Jack a proposal in a tweet which read, "@jackantonoff Get on it, yo..." Though her musician boyfriend didn't respond to Lena's tweet, he too celebrated the ruling in a series of tweets. It read, "Just woke up to the news! overwhelmed. JUNE 26th remember forever." Proud of the Supreme Court's decision, he wrote, "gonna tweet something I never thought I would: !!!!!!!!!!!!! USA USA USA USA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Back in March, Lena said on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" that she would not wed her boyfriend until marriage was made legal to everyone in the nation. "The idea of having a celebration that can't be fully shared among all the people in my life and all the people that we love just doesn't really feel like a celebration at all," she said of marrying the Bleachers musician. "So until that's something that everyone can join into with no sense of being left out on any level, politically, emotionally, it's just not something that we're gonna do."
