The story about the Disney princess with magic long hair will be made into TV series, debuting in 2017, and it will reunite some voice actors from the original film.

AceShowbiz - Disney Channel announced on Wednesday, June 3, that they would make an animated series of 2010's film "Tangled". The series would retain some talent from the film including Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi who were the voice actors of Rapunzel and Eugene, respectively.

The voice actors were excited to reprise their roles for the TV series. Mandy took to Twitter to express her excitement as she wrote, "Very excited for new adventures AND music! Ready to jump back in, @ZacharyLevi?" Zachary later replied to her tweet, "And in case you missed it, this little nugget of awesome. :) @TheMandyMoore @Disney."

The series debuting in 2017 will feature a number of characters from the movie including Rapunzel's chameleon sidekick Pascal, the uppity horse Maximus, the thugs from the Snuggly Duckling Pub. It will also introduce a new character named Cassandra, "a tough-as-nails handmaiden, who becomes Rapunzel's confidant."

Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken and lyricist Glenn Slater will be responsible for new songs on the series. They had experience in composing the beautiful soundtracks for the original film. Chris Sonnenburg and Shane Prigmore will co-executive produce the series. Both of them will also work as the animators for the series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the animation series is set between the events of the original film and the start of the 2012 short film "Tangled Ever After". It tells a story about Rapunzel who is not ready yet to accept her royal destiny as she realizes there is so much more she needs to learn. She later puts her crown and marriage on hold to seek out epic adventures. The king, who has missed her daughter's youth, must accept that his daughter is now an independent woman.

Developing animated series based on Disney's animated films is not a new thing. Disney has turned a number of its films into episodic television. They include "Hercules", "101 Dalmatians", "Aladdin" and "The Lion Guard", focusing on son of Simba from "Lion King".
