The first trailer for the upcoming comedy drama "Ricki and the Flash has been released. The two-minute video reveals the plot of the movie. It features Meryl Streep as a rock singer-guitarist who left her family to chase her dream to become a famous rock star.

Streep stars as Ricki alongside her real-life daughter, Mamie Gummer whose character in the movie goes through a difficult divorce. While Ricki is in search of popularity, her ex-husband, Pete (Kevin Kline), asks her to come back home to help her daughter face serious problem in her marriage. Returning home, Ricki gets a chance to make things right with the family she left behind.

The trailer also shows Ricki turning her relationship with a Flash member played by Rick Springfield into a romantic one. At the end of the trailer, Ricki performs in front of her family and says, "I am never a traditional mom, well I am a musician and I like to give all I have to you."

Other stars who also join the cast are "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" star Sebastian Stan and "Private Practice" star Audra McDonald. The movie is directed by Jonathan Demme ("The Silence of the Lambs") with a script by Diablo Cody ("Juno"). Produced by Cody, Marc Platt, Mason Novick and Gary Goetzman, the movie is slated for a release on August 7 in the United States.
