AceShowbiz - "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" is likely happening despite rumored talks between Sony execs about replacing %cAndrew Garfield% as lead. A casting call for the movie has emerged on Bill Beckman Casting, hinting that the studio is moving forward with the project.
The third "Amazing Spider-Man" movie was pushed back from June 10, 2016 to an undetermined date in 2018 after "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" only brought in $709 million, the lowest of any Spider-Man movie ever. The fourth installment, meanwhile, is no longer listed on the studio's schedule.
Emails between Sony execs which were leaked in the Sony hacking scandal in late last year also revealed that there were discussions to feature the web-slinger in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier", with a new actor as Spider-Man. Garfield reportedly was fired because he upset Sony bosses with his remaks that seemed to blame the studio for the box office failure of "The Amazing Spider-Man 2".
Latino Review, however, noted that this would only happen if Marvel and Sony agreed to a deal to share the rights to Spider-Man at a 60/40 split. With the casting call issued, it appears that the Marvel-Sony deal was never sealed.
