Andrew Garfield May Be Replaced for Future Spider-Man Film
Movie

Words are, the actor's comments about studio interference being responsible for the box office failure of 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' have upset Sony's bosses.

AceShowbiz - Andrew Garfield reportedly has been fired from Spider-Man movie franchise. Sony leaked emails obtained by Mashable reveal more details about the planned Spider-Man and Captain America crossover, but it doesn't include Garfield.

Garfield's performance as the web slinger was praised by fans, but he may have upset the wrong person. His strong remaks that seemed to blame the studio for the box office failure of "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" was reportedly one of factors of him being fired from the franchise.

Moreover, his absence with less than an hour of notice at a Sony corporate dinner in July, in which he was supposed to meet Sony CEO Kaz Hirai and other Sony executives, "was seen as an affront and slight by the company's Tokyo bosses," according to the site.

Amy Pascal said in an email to producer Matt Tolmach at one point, "I love introducing pp [Peter Parker] in cap but I know it comes with so many things since we won't give them what they want what will we give them? We can say it's a cameo but I'll bet it's more and will involve some of his world and it will be peter and spidey right."

Pascal further mentioned several things that they needed to consider if Sony were to agree to rebooting the Spider-Man franchise and introduce it in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier". "if we have spiderman in cap 3. what is our fee and our back end. need script approval, casting approval of sm and aunt may and consultation of mays house in queens and any other spiderman locations we may need in future movies. also approval of new spiderman costume," she wrote in an email memo to herself.

"how long is he is the movie? how closely does it follow the civil war story line? does the world find out who spiderman is? are there any other characters from the spiderman universe they are using? can we use one of the marvel characters in our future spiderman movies not produced by marvel.can we use cap to set up ss? can drew work with the russos to get this done? are we renting him out?"

Latino Review confirms the possibility of Garfield being replaced in the next Spider-Man movie, but notes that such thing would only happen if Marvel and Sony agreed to a deal to share the rights to Spider-Man at a 60/40 split. The deal itself could be jump-started if Sony Pictures continues to stumble in their handling of the Spider-Man franchise.

Marvel also allegedly planned to shift the focus of the Spider-Man reboot to make it a Spider-Man romance movie. Thus, new movies under this deal would begin with Peter Parker already leading a dual life.

/Film, however, says that this deal has not been signed yet and the current plan is still to include Garfield in the next Spider-Man movie.
