U2 was forced to postpone their residency on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" after frontman Bono had a cycling accident in New York. The band's Adam Clayton, The Edge and Larry Mullen Jr. announced the unfortunate news in a statement posted on their website on Sunday, November 16.

"It looks like we will have to do our Tonight Show residency another time - we're one man down," they wrote before revealing that Bono had to undergo a surgery to repair the arm he injured in the "cycling spill in Central Park."

"We're sure he'll make a full recovery soon, so we'll be back! Much thanks to Jimmy Fallon and everyone at the show for their understanding," they added.

U2's week-long residency on the late-night show was supposed to start on Monday, November 17. The postponement happened just days after the Irish rockers had a terrifying incident during a flight from Dublin to Berlin last Wednesday. They were at about 15,000 feet above the ground when the rear door of their private plane fell off along with two suitcases.

"The worry is where is the door, where are those bags?" Bono joked about the mid-air scare at the 2014 Bambi Awards in Germany on Thursday. "You know there may be a few cows or sheep in the German countryside with a very sore head. We trust that nobody was hurt because we would have heard by now and that was actually our first concern, cause we were fine."
