"The Walking Dead" spin-off has got a director. According to Deadline, veteran TV director Adam Davidson has been hired to direct the pilot of the companion series to the AMC hit post-apocalyptic show which is slated to be filmed late this year.
Davidson made his film debut as a director with "The Lunch Date", which won the Academy Award for Best Short Subject and the Short Film Palme d'Or at the 1990 Cannes Film Festival. His TV directing credits include "Lost", "Grey's Anatomy", "Dexter", "True Blood" and "Community" among many others.
The "Walking Dead" spin-off is created by comic book creator Robert Kirkman and Dave Erickson ("Sons of Anarchy"). It's expected to show what happens in the zombie apocalypse in other parts of the world.
"There are many corners of 'The Walking Dead' universe that remain unseen in the shadows. Being given the opportunity to shine a light into those corners and see what lurks out there is an absolute thrill," Kirkman said in September when AMC announced the pilot order.
The yet-to-be-titled new show will reportedly feature a Latino named Sean Cabrera and his teenage son Cody, a single mom named Nancy Tompkins who has two kids, and a character named Andrea Chapman, who "has retreated to the outskirts of the city to recover after a horrible marriage." No cast is announced for the project yet.
