Liz W. Garcia's first film features Bell as an almost-thirty-year-old woman who leaves her seemingly perfect life in New York only to go back home to her old job as a lifeguard.

Kristen Bell experiences a quarter-life crisis in the first trailer for "The Lifeguard", the upcoming indie drama from director/writer Liz W. Garcia. As a 29-year-old woman, Bell feels dissatisfied with her seemingly good life in New York and decides to regress by going back home to revert to her high school lifestyle.
Apparently, her friends and parents are not that pleased with Bell's decision and especially her teen behavior. As featured in the trailer, she is constantly reminded to "grow up." "I'm allowed to be confused and stumbled once in a while," so she tells her mother, portrayed by Amy Madigan, defending herself.
The directorial debut of "Dawson's Creek" scribe Garcia introduces "Veronica Mars" star Bell as Leigh, the one who chooses to take up her old job as a local lifeguard instead of continuing career as a New York reporter. David Lambert, best known for starring in "Aaron Stone", is tapped to be Little Jason, the troubled teen Leigh falls for.
Produced by Mike Landry and Carlos Velazquez, the movie is also supported by Martin Starr, Mamie Gummer and Alex Shaffer.
"The Lifeguard" is slated for a limited release on August 30 in the U.S. and available on VOD on July 30.
