Adrian Belew Says Goodbye to Nine Inch Nails

The guitarist is the second new member of the reformed band to leave the group after bassist Eric Avery.

Following the departure of bassist Eric Avery last month, another new Nine Inch Nails member bids the band goodbye. Guitarist Adrian Belew, the former King Crimson rocker, made the big reveal in a Facebook post about his decision to leave the group.

"It didn't work," Belew simply summed it all up. "I greatly respect Trent [Reznor] and the music he makes. No one is at fault. We both agreed it just was not working. I'm sorry to disappoint anyone," he stated, adding that he would just concentrate on his other project, developing his "Flux" interactive listening program.

Belew, along with Jane's Addiction's Avery and Josh Eustis of Telefon Tel Aviv, was enlisted by frontman Trent Reznor when he reformed his NIN industrial rock project back in February. The three new members were to join Reznor and and previous NIN collaborators Alessandro Cortini and Ilan Rubin for a "full-on arena tour" starting this summer.

After Avery left the band, Reznor welcomed in his place longtime band collaborator Robin Finck, who has been an associate of NIN since 1994, playing on past tours and albums. The band is set to release their ninth studio album later this year and will be performing in their first live show since 2009 when they appear at the Fuji Rock Festival in Naeba, Japan on July 26, apart from playing various other music festivals as Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, Leeds, Reading, Made In America and the Voodoo Festival.
