Tucker says, 'It means the world to see Blake was there to rush to my defense,' after her coach hit back at a music critic who reacted to her elimination with a sarcastic comment.

AceShowbiz - After nurturing some asprising singers of "The Voice" season 4 for weeks, Blake Shelton was understably upset when someone bashed one of his proteges. Thus, the country music star wasn't staying quiet when music critic Joey Guerra for the Houston Chronicle reacted sarcastically to Holly Tucker's elimination.

"It's people like you @joeyguerra that make me sick... Holly is not only a talented singer but a great person that's simply chasing a dream," he wrote on his Twitter page after Guerra tweeted, "#TheVoice sends one singer back to Texas. Don't worry, it's not the one we care about." Shelton continued slamming the music critic, "How about you @joeyguerra grow some balls and come tell me to my face how terrible some of these kids are face to face..? You won't. Ever."

"I swear to god I cant understand the mentality of a grown man ripping on young kids over and over again for just trying their hardest. Kids!" he added in another post. "How much do y'all wanna bet he'd NEVER criticize my team OR me like that face to face.... Chicken s**t.. "

The "Sure Be Cool If You Did" hitmaker later apologized for his outburst. "I'm sorry for going off y'all... But I am passionate about encouraging young people to follow their dreams.. We GOOD people don't need hate," he said.

Tucker, meanwhile, thought Shelton's reaction was a sweet gesture. "It means the world to see Blake was there to rush to my defense," she told MTV News. "You know, he's my coach. I'll always think of him that way. He's kind of like a father figure, in a way, just that he wants to protect us. He wants the best for us. He wants to see us succeed."

The sixth-place finisher also saw the positive side of all criticisms addressed to her, stating, "It's just fuel for my fire. It's OK to have an opinion, like not everybody's going to like what I do. I understand that, but it's my motivation. It's what keeps me going."

Tucker was sent home on "The Voice" latest results show Tuesday, June 4. Shelton's team is now down to Danielle Bradbery and The Swon Brothers, while the other three coaches (Adam Levine, Shakira and Usher) are heading to the semifinals with only one protege each.
