Granuloma might have prevented John Mayer from promoting "Born and Raised" properly, but it obviously doesn't affect the sales of his fifth studio album in a bad way. In fact, the effort debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, knocking off Adam Lambert's "Trespassing" from the top slot by selling 219,000 copies in its first week.

It marks Mayer's third No. 1 album, following 2009's "Battle Studies", which bowed with 289,000, and 2003's "Heavier Things", which topped the chart with 317,000. Speaking of the album's projection last Friday, May 25, the "Shadow Days" singer wrote on his official Tumblr that it "is just incredible on all your parts because there has been very little I've been able to do to promote it."

While Mayer's latest album claimed the top spot, Lambert's effort gets thrown out of the Top 10 completely. A week after entering the chart at No. 1, it slips to No. 12 with a massive 71|percent| drop in sales. The last time a No. 1-debuting title fell out of the Top 10 in its second week was on December 3, 2011 when Mac Miller's "Blue Slide Park" collapsed 1-24.

Both of Adele's "21" and Carrie Underwood's "Blown Away" are holding firm to their last week position at No. 2 and 3 respectively. Meanwhile, Slash starts at No. 4 with his second solo album, "Apocalyptic Love", and One Direction's "Up All Night" jumps back to No. 5 with 37,000 copies.

Two other newcomers on the charts are MercyMe's "The Hurt & the Healer" and Sara Bareilles' five-song EP "Once Upon Another Time [EP]". The former bows at No. 7 by selling nearly 33,000 copies in its first week, while the latter enters at No. 8 with 31,000. "American Idol" winner, Phillip Phillips, also gets his "Journey to the Finale" album debuting at No. 11.
