Speaking to reporters outside the Manhattan Family Court, a lawyer for Francois-Henri Pinault says that everybody is glad that both parties involved in the legal battle have come to an agreement.

Linda Evangelista and Francois-Henri Pinault have agreed to end their child support battle. A lawyer for Pinault told reporters Monday, May 7 that after two days of tense, often personal court testimony, the husband of Salma Hayek and the 46-year-old supermodel have reached agreement over the care of their 5-year-old son, Augustin.
The settlement came as Evangelista was set to take the stand in Manhattan Family Court for her second day of testimony in the highly-publicized case. Attorneys for both sides remained silent over terms of the agreement, but Pinault's lawyer, David Aronson, said outside the courthouse after a brief proceeding, "Everybody's glad for the sake and the benefit of the child that it's done."
The New York Post reported that Evangelista's lawyer William Beslow told the support magistrate during the proceeding that the two parties involved "have reached an agreement in principal", adding that the details of the settlement will be presented on Tuesday, May 8. Pinault's lawyer, David Aronson, confirmed by stating, "I agree with what Mr. Beslow says and join in the agreement."
Evangelista reportedly sought $46,000 in monthly child-support payments for her son with Pinault. The trial over the exes' legal battle was kicked off on May 3, during which Evangelista's lawyer said that the French business tycoon suggested that the model should get an abortion upon learning about her pregnancy in 2006.
That day, Pinault claimed he "was not involved in the decision of having the baby." On the second day of the trial, he offered his side of the story on why he postponed the legal recognition process of Evangelista's son Augustin as his own in 2007, saying that his wife's difficult pregnancy had forced him to do so.
