Starz has hyped up the anticipation of "Spartacus: Vengeance" January premiere by unveiling a long-form trailer for the series. The fresh preview gives more look at the intense fighting, the blood spilling and glimpses of nudity. It also shares footage of Lucy Lawless' Lucretia.

In this follow-up to "Spartacus: Blood and Sand", the gladiator rebellion continues and begins to strike fear into the heart of the Roman Republic. Gaius Claudius Glaber and his Roman troops are sent to Capua to crush the growing band of freed slaves that Spartacus leads before it can inflict further damage.

On the heels of the bloody escape from the House of Batiatus, Spartacus is presented the choice of satisfying his personal need for vengeance against the man that condemned his wife to slavery and eventual death or making the larger sacrifices necessary to keep his budding army from breaking apart.

Showrunner Steven S. DeKnight previously spoke about Spartacus' transformation from the first season. "In season 2, Spartacus learns how to be a leader. He goes from a guy with an axe to grind to being a leader," he explained. Taking on the titular role was Liam McIntyre, who replaces the late Andy Whitfield.

"Spartacus: Vengeance" will premiere Friday, January 27, 2012 at 10 P.M. on Starz. The second season is still around a month away, but the network has ordered the third season. "There is no denying the impact 'Spartacus' has had in the marketplace with fans across the globe thirsting for the continuation of the epic tale," says Starz Media managing director Carmi Zlotnik.
