Despite the picturesque landscape, the castaways will face exposure to elements and wildlife living for 39 days in the mysterious rainforests that cover rugged volcanic mountain peaks.

The bunch of people trying to survive in the wilderness while applying their strategical game moves on "Survivor" season 19 have been introduced. CBS unveiled the identities of 20 castaways who have been stranded on a Samoan island which is located in South Pacific this summer.
"This group reminds me a little bit of 'Fans vs. Favorites' in terms of there's a sense of fun and [it] actually looks like they'd be fun to hang out with," said host Jeff Probst. The line-up in fact consists of a cop with a hippy past, the first female Marine Sergeant brought to the show and "a man with an insane strategy". Additionally, there is one castaway who is not yet identified but the network claimed as "the biggest villain in Survivor history". In the TV spot aired on Tuesday, August 25, CBS said, "One of these castaways will become the biggest Survivor villain ever."
In order to keep things fresh, a new twist is added. At the start of the game, competing tribes will be asked to immediately pick a chief, someone to make all the decisions for the group. "Without speaking, both tribes must immediately choose one member of their group to become their sole decision maker, their chief. How important will the role of tribal chief be in determining the fate of each tribe?" stated the announcement.
"Survivor: Samoa" premieres on Thursday, September 17 at 8/7c.
