Proving the directing knack actor Richard Roxburgh turns out to possess within, drama flick "Romulus, My Father" triumphantly landed the top prize of best picture at this year's Australian Film Institute Awards, the Australian equivalent to the American Academy Awards.
During the ceremony held Thursday, December 6 at Melbourne Exhibition Centre, the memoir-based feature also led its three stars Eric Bana, Marton Csokas, and Kodi Smit-McPhee to collect other prestigious honors. Bana, who also took home News Limited Readers' Choice Award, was bestowed that of Best Lead Actor while Csokas and Smit-McPhee nabbing Best Supporting Actor title and Young Actor Award, respectively.
Other winners in acting categories included China-born thespian Joan Chen and newcomer Emma Booth, the former receiving an honor in female leading performance while the latter that in supporting category. Meanwhile, filmmaker George Miller got presented with the AFI Global Achievement Award for his work in Oscar-winning CGI animated flick "Happy Feet."
