Chloë Grace Moretz, born on February 10, 1997, is an American actress who rose from child star to one of Hollywood’s most versatile performers, known for her ability to seamlessly transition between blockbuster action films, indie dramas, and horror projects. She began acting at a young age, making her film debut in the horror remake The Amityville Horror in 2005, followed by a recurring role on the drama series Desperate Housewives from 2006 to 2007. Early film appearances included the horror thriller The Eye and the drama The Poker House, both in 2008, as well as the romantic comedy 500 Days of Summer in 2009 and the children’s comedy Diary of a Wimpy Kid in 2010.
Moretz’s breakthrough came in 2010 when she portrayed the foul-mouthed, violet-wigged superhero Hit-Girl in Matthew Vaughn’s Kick-Ass. The role earned her widespread acclaim and instantly established her as a formidable young talent. She followed this with a starring role in Martin Scorsese’s adventure film Hugo in 2011, and appeared in Tim Burton’s horror comedy Dark Shadows in 2012.
