2012 NAACP Image Awards Winners in TV: 'Law and Order: SVU', 'Up All Night' and More

The police procedural show is named Outstanding Drama Series, while Nick Cannon takes a supporting actor prize through his acting on the comedy series.

The 43rd Annual NAACP Image Awards has handed out its kudos on Friday, February 17 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Taking the coveted prizes in TV field were "" and "" which were named Outstanding Drama and Comedy Series respectively.

Also having a victorious night was who scored Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series through his stint on "". won an accolade for best drama actor through his role on "", while was chosen as Outstanding Actor in a Television Movie, Mini-Series or Dramatic Special.

Fishburne's TV movie which aired on HBO, "Thurgood", also nabbed the Outstanding Television Movie, Mini-Series or Dramatic Special award. In Reality Series category, "" managed to edge out other competitors including "" and "".

"" and "", which led the nomination list with six mentions each, only took home one trophy each. The former helped James Pickens Jr. to grab Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series prize, while the latter has its win for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy Series.

In addition to honoring outstanding people of color for their work in TV, the 2012 NAACP Image Awards handed out kudos in film, music and literature categories. Filmmaker George Lucas was honored with the Vanguard Award, which was presented by .

The award-giving event also paid a tribute to the late by playing a footage of her accepting the award for outstanding female artist in 1994. , meanwhile, performed "I Love the Lord, He Heard My Cry" dedicated to the "Saving All My Love for You" hitmaker.
