With the island escapade behind him, Neal makes his return to the FBI. But just because he's back in the office doesn't mean things are back to normal: pending review, Peter has been reassigned to "The Cave," a cheerless evidence warehouse where cataloging and collating, not casework, is the order of the day.
Meanwhile, Diana and Jones re-open a file that has great meaning to Peter, a twenty-year-old unsolved case involving a thief who has pulled a major heist every five years. And as it happens, this week marks five years since the last heist. Feeling responsible for Peter's current situation, Neal offers his help to Diana and Jones. It soon becomes clear, though, that if they want to catch this thief before he strikes again, they're going to need Peter's help.
At first, with his every action under scrutiny from the higher ups, Peter is hesitant to get too involved. Yet, as he and Neal begin to turn over new details in the case, the exiled Agent can't help but get caught up in the action. It isn't long before they set their sights on a suspect, but as Peter gets drawn further in to the center of the investigation, he may be endangering his chances of getting his career back...
