With Nicki and Sabrina on their arms - and in their bedrooms - Justin and Danny feel great, which is enough to razz each other about their new (very ideal) situation. However, Justin pushes it a step further and blurts out the fact that he loves Nicki, not realizing that she overheard the statement right behind him. Is it too soon to say "I love you"? It certainly seems that way when Nicki responds with the decidedly less loving, "Cool."
Nicki's lack of reciprocity throws Justin into an emotional tizzy, but he refuses to take back the statement and feels confident that, in time, Nicki will come around. In fact, he's even more ready for total commitment and suggests to the gang that he and Nicki should move in together... and once again Nicki overhears. But later, in private, she divulges the reason behind her cagey response - she's moving away from Detroit to take care of her mom.
This news causes Justin to seek out advice from Danny, who urges him to move on. Despite his broken heart, Justin implements a cold shoulder to Nicki who reacts with shock at his sudden change in attitude. Danny witnesses Nicki's confusion and sadness and, after the gang carries a despondent Justin back to the bar, revises his advice: just be honest with Nicki. Justin listens and tells Nicki how upset her move makes him, but also how he loves her because she would drop her life in Detroit to help her mom. His honesty pays off and Nicki confesses that she loves him, too. After his little love fest with Nicki, Justin hugs Danny in thanks and says he loves him, too. And even though Danny resists the show of emotion, it's clear his bond with Justin continues to grow stronger.
