To the surprise of everyone but Jonah (Ben Feldman), Dina (Lauren Ash) announces she's stepping down as assistant manager at a staff meeting, prompting a search for her replacement. Though Amy (America Ferrera) is Glenn's (Mark McKinney) first choice, she refuses the offer, but agrees to help Glenn interview candidates. Mateo (Nico Santos), meanwhile, prepares a glitzy presentation - with help from Garrett (Colton Dunn) - to make his case. But by the time he gets the chance to show it to Glenn, Amy's had a change of heart, especially after learning that the assistant manager role comes with compensation for taking college courses.
At the same time, Jonah tries to figure out how to let Dina down easy without being the bad guy, but every time he delays telling her the truth, Dina's flirtations get even bolder, including showing Jonah the condoms and lingerie she plans to purchase. Finally, Jonah decides to record a breakup message and play it back for Dina. But when he invites her into a fitting room, Dina mistakes the situation for a hookup and kisses Jonah. The breakup message goes off as she presses against him, prompting Dina to run out, mortified. Jonah tries to clear the air with her at the end of the day, but as it turns out, he doesn't need to - Dina's already moved on.
