David Wallace shows up for his meeting with Jim, a meeting to which Michael is not invited. Michael turns to Pam, hoping she can give some insight on why David wants to talk to Jim, but she remains mum.

Darryl fills Toby in on how he broke his ankle while on the job, but things aren't adding up to Dwight, who's listening in on the conversation. Dwight is determined to prove to Toby that Darryl is lying about how he really got the injury.

Michael is determined to find out why Jim and David are having a secret meeting in the conference room. Now, he's enlisted the help of Andy to get to the bottom of it; Michael will hide in a cheese cart that Andy will leave in the conference room. But, the meeting ends with Andy's arrival.

Pam is dealing with her and Jim's guest list for their upcoming nuptials in Niagara Falls. Pam's secretly hoping more co-workers opt to not make the trip because of the distance and in return, she and Jim can save money. But she's having a hard time getting definite answers on who's really going.

David has his own meeting with Michael to discuss Jim as managerial material. Michael fills David in on the reasons on why Jim shouldn't be promoted, but quickly regrets it when David tells Michael a promotion for Jim means a promotion for Michael.

Toby and Dwight head to Darryl's house to spy. When they spot someone they think is Darryl doing heavy lifting, they begin to angrily shout, only to quickly find out that it's Darryl's sister they are yelling at. After confronting both Dwight and Toby back at work, Darryl threatens to call Corporate and file complaints against both guys.

After his meeting with Michael, David refuses to promote Jim. Jim confronts Michael, blaming him for the bad news and demands Michael clean up the mess. Jim just gets angrier and angrier when he listens to David's recap of his meeting with Michael. David calls back with a non-conventional idea, making both Jim and Michael co-managers of the Scranton branch.

Dwight and Toby pay Darryl a visit in the warehouse and piece together that Darryl really got his injury from misuse of company equipment. Dwight wants to file a complaint about Darryl's lie, while Darryl wants to file a complaint over Toby and Dwight's harassment of his sister. In the end, its just more work for Scranton's HR rep: Toby.
