After appearing in a news report about the FBI's involvement in the case of a missing investigative journalist, Charlie becomes the target of a thuggish intimidation, which inhibits his ability to perform his math. As the team looks in to the journalist's life, they catch a break when Colby walks in on thugs stealing files from one of her apartments. The files are all focused on Richard Taylor, a land developer, and the team discovers the journalist had been planning a piece on how Taylor had been intimidating tenants in properties he wanted to buy to get cheaper prices. Taylor had discovered the piece and kidnapped the journalist to keep her quiet while the land deals went through. He was also behind the debilitating attacks on Charlie, whose "math block" is a major disruption in the case. However, with Colby's help Charlie breaks through the block, and is able to pinpoint the journalist's location just in time.
