DEATH PENALTY ON TRIAL AS TEENAGER IS CHARGED WITH MURDER - When the owner of a Chinese restaurant is brutally beaten to death while making a delivery, Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) find that thrill-seeking youths may be responsible. Once D.A.'s McCoy (Sam Waterston) and Carmichael (Angie Harmon) get the case, they seek a clear-cut death penalty conviction, but D.A. Lewin (Dianne Wiest) forces them to more deeply scrutinize the justice in pursuing capital punishment for a felon who only two weeks before turned 18 years of age.
