Miranda finally gets a chance to make her mark on Broadway, but things don't go quite as expected. Money troubles force the family to get creative.
In NYC, Miranda and Kelly tape a rooftop promo for her performance, as eviction looms for the family back in Tacoma. Mr. Crusoe tells Kelly that the invitation was not for Miranda to perform, but only for her to attend "Wrap Party". Patrick and Amanda have another medieval-themed date, as Emily melts down from Kelly's betrayal.
At Birdland Theatre on Broadway that night, the last act is Frankie Grande. Miranda climbs onstage to interrupt Grande's song. She insults his singing, telling him to lip-synch to her, as she has an "incredible voice". The audience thinks it is a brilliant comedy act. Grande and Crusoe invite Miranda to appear in further Broadway performances. Kelly is proud. News of Miranda's triumph is received with mixed reactions at home. Patrick kisses Amanda but tries to make her more Miranda-like; she flees.
On a TV talk show, Miranda insults the host, upsetting everyone. Her agent and Kelly agree that the only way to salvage her fame is to hire an actress to play the person behind her "act". Miranda storms out and returns sadly to the empty Tacoma house. Kelly is there; he viciously bullies her. The family arrives to hear this, and Jim punches Kelly, who leaves.
Although the family was evicted, they moved upstairs to the tiny attic crawlspace. Miranda and Patrick sweetly reconcile. On TV, Colleen Ballinger plays "the actress behind Miranda Sings"; Miranda is appalled.
