When a student at Rockland University falls into a coma under suspicious circumstances, a rumor quickly spreads that she was a victim of the "Bloody Mary"urban legend. This time around, Melinda is the skeptical one, doubting that the incident is related to the supernatural, but when a second student, a friend of the first, also ends up in a coma, Melinda isn't ruling anything out. After talking to friends of the comatose students and searching for information on the local variation of the myth, Melinda discovers that it is definitely not the ghost from the myth doing the damage, but rather the first--unknown--victim of Bloody Mary. A prank involving the Bloody Mary myth had literally scared a student with a dangerous heart defect to death, and as a result she comes back to take revenge on those she thinks are responsible for her death. Once Melinda is able to communicate with this elusive ghost, she explains what happened, helps the ghost cross over and brings the comatose students back to consciousness.
