Cougar Town Episode 2.12 A Thing About You

Grayson is feeling really good about "Jason." He combined Jules' name with his just like they do with celebrity couples. Yeah, Jason doesn't work for Jules. She suggests "Grules." Thankfully, the naming rights discussion gets tabled when Jules starts talking about the future. She's Future Gal. Grayson, on the other hand, is Now Guy. These two are mortal enemies. Guess that's why Jules decides to live in the moment.

And the topic of the moment is the concept that men are loyal friends while women tend to ditch their pals at the drop of a hat. Jules promises that she'd do anything for her two best gal pals. That's precisely why she can't reject Laurie's request to crash at her place for the weekend while her apartment is being painted.

Of course, there's no such thing as loyalty when a new wine bar opens. The fact that the place is competition for Grayson's pub can't keep our girls from downing a few quick, covert glasses. Too bad Jules is banned from the place when a snooty wine bar guy named Wayne accuses her of not drinking for the right reasons. But that doesn't stop Ellie from returning to the place behind her BFF's back.

Snooty wine bar guy Wayne and Ellie are kindred spirits. They are both super-judgmental and enjoy ridiculing others from afar. But when Wayne takes a nasty dig at Jules, Ellie lets him know that won't fly with her. She demoralizes the wine dude in one dead-on rant. The whole scene is a total turn-on for Andy, who whisks his wife away once the carnage is complete. Later, snooty wine guy Wayne fills Big Carl to the brim for Jules. He has no choice. Best friend Ellie is standing right beside her.

Jules finds living with Laurie to be a true test of their friendship. She decides to be honest and says that she can't take her as a houseguest any longer. When Jules learns that Laurie fibbed about her apartment being painted, she totally goes off on her future ex-roomie. Of course, Jules feels horrible when Laurie admits that the only reason she lied is so they could spend some time together. That hasn't been an easy thing to do since she started dating Grayson.

Jules is shocked when Laurie doesn't seem the least bit upset about all the horrible things she said. That's because Laurie knows that even though friends sometimes fight, they always have each other's back. A heart-to-heart chat leads Jules to admit that she wishes she was more comfortable with who she is. She wishes she could be more like Laurie. Aww.

Bobby worries that his son may start looking at Grayson as a father figure after Trav seeks advice from the G-man regarding Kirsten's desire for more romance. Bobby suggests Trav write a love song. Possible titles include "Stairway to Kirsten" and "Hotel Kirstenfornia." Bobby eighty-sixed "Kirsten and Julio Down by the Schoolyard" because it sounds like she's throwin' down with someone else. Makes sense.

Travis asks Grayson to share some of that romantic gibberish he used to dole out to get chicks. Again, Bobby is bummed that his boy didn't come to him. He later tells Travis that the key to romance is creating a moment. So, that's what Bobby does. He sets up lights on his boat so Travis can spend a romantic night with Kirsten looking out at the ocean from his spot in the parking lot. Grayson gave Bobby the idea because that's the kind of thing friends do for each other.
