A mysterious masked man kidnaps Reade (Rob Brown) and warns him to keep silent about Jane's (Jaimie Alexander) connection to Carter's death - or else the people he loves will be hurt. Reade stays quiet about the encounter, and out of fear for her safety, he breaks up with Sarah (Jordana Spiro).

Meanwhile, Jane struggles between her allegiances with the FBI and Oscar (Francois Arnaud). The FBI team investigates a stolen painting that matches Jane's burning rose tattoo and tries to decipher the connection. While tracking the theft, Jane discovers that a rogue from Oscar's team, Cade (Tom Lipinski), appears to be determined to kill her. To protect her team, Jane disappears, leaving Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) and the others to worry about her safety. Oscar tells Jane they must get rid of Cade, who continues to kill other members of their group in an effort to find the two of them. Ultimately, there's a tense showdown on the deck of a ship, and Cade reveals that it's Oscar he wants - apparently Oscar was responsible for the death of someone named Marcos, who mattered a lot to Cade. Oscar shoots Cade in the stomach and tackles him before the FBI arrive on the scene, and they both fall into the water below. Weller is furious with Jane for disappearing, but admits that if he had been in her situation, he would've done the same.

Later, Jane is happy to see that Oscar has survived the fall - but neither one of them knows that Cade managed to survive, too. And he's ready to retaliate.
