When Martin Channing ends up back in the news due to a transfer to a minimum security prison in North Carolina, his crimes once again cost the girls a hard-fought opportunity - this time a meeting with one of New York's elite party planers. Months of failing to escape from her father's shadow and stalled progress on the cupcake front take finally begin to take their toll on Caroline, who spends two days sulking in bed. It's up to Max, who makes a deal to get Chestnut back from Peach, to provide moral support. But Max is left reeling as well when Johnny comes back to the diner and drops the bombshell that he's moving to Manhattan and getting married. Flustered, Max replies saying that she and Caroline are going to a gala in order to show their cupcakes to Martha Stewart herself. It's a long shot, but the girls are willing to try anything in order to get their big break.
