Despite the fact that he is predicted to be one of candidates who will collect an award for Best Actor at the 82nd Annual Academy Awards, Colin Firth doesn't pay too much attention to it.

AceShowbiz - Colin Firth is ignoring the Oscar buzz surrounding his performance in new film "A Single Man" - because he's "too old" to get carried away with the hype. The Brit is one of the favorites to land a Best Actor nod when the Academy Awards nominations are announced in Hollywood on Tuesday, February 2, 2010, for his role as gay professor George Falconer, a man struggling to cope with the death of his lover.
But despite the acclaim he has already received for the film, Firth insists he doesn't dream about taking home a golden statuette, because he was once left "shattered" when he failed to win at an awards ceremony. He tells London's Metro newspaper, "God knows (if I'll win). I'm trying not to think about it. You don't know how much you've vested in something until you have a disappointment."
He adds, "Years ago when I had a BAFTA nomination in my mid twenties I was very blase and I didn't go because I was filming at the time. I lost. I thought I was cool about it but I was absolutely shattered. I was astonished I was so shattered. I was very surprised. He continues, "I'm getting on a bit and I've been up and down a few times. I'm too old to get swept away in it completely and I've had little enough experience of it to feel too jaded."
