AceShowbiz - Adam Friedland has been named to Variety's 10 Comics to Watch for 2026, the annual list spotlighting comedy's rising stars.
The honor centers on The Adam Friedland Show, his biweekly talk show that pairs freewheeling interviews with surreal, character-driven bits skewering media, politics and culture. Variety described him in the announcement as a "slacker-provocateur talk show host."
"The comedy industry is bigger than ever in 2026, and this year's list represents the bold breadth of those currently making us laugh, [like] slacker-provocateur talk show host Adam Friedland," Ethan Shanfeld wrote in Variety.
GQ has dubbed Friedland "the millennial Jon Stewart." Before launching his eponymous talk show, he hosted Cumtown. He lives in New York City.
So far this season, The Adam Friedland Show has welcomed guests from across the culture-war matrix, including Hunter Biden, Colin Kaepernick, Danny McBride, Grimes and Curtis Sliwa, among others.
Richard Kind told Variety about his experience with Friedland: "He's funny, likable, smart, and we really get along. ... I walk down the streets. One kid after another says, 'You were great on Adam Friedland's show.' And yet, I still ask: Who the hell is Adam Friedland?"
On the episode of The Adam Friedland Show released on November 5, Marc Maron turned the tables on Friedland, WTF-style, for what was billed as an unexpectedly profound and vulnerable conversation revealing a deeper side of his identity as a comedian.
"It's very hard if you're still coming up or trying to be something on your own to not become part of somebody else's thing," Maron told Friedland. "You can't tie yourself to somebody. You can't be part of someone's entourage, because how are you going to surface from that? You've got to do your own shit."
If there's one bit Friedland can commit to, it's his own.
