AceShowbiz - The beloved Scooby-Doo franchise is expanding with a brand-new anime series titled Yokoso Scooby-Doo!, set to premiere on the streaming platform Tubi. This marks the first original anime series within the iconic franchise, produced by Warner Bros. Animation in collaboration with Japanese studio OLM.
The story follows Scooby-Doo and Shaggy on a unique adventure in Japan, where an accidental release of mythical monsters causes chaos throughout the country. Together with Scooby’s uncle, Daisuke-Doo, and new allies—a magical girl named Yume and a tech-savvy friend named Takumi—the group tackles fresh mysteries filled with action, humor, and monster chases.
Frank Welker, who has been a key voice in the franchise since its inception, returns to voice Scooby-Doo once again. Welker originally voiced Fred Jones in the 1969 premiere of Scooby-Doo, Where Are You! and has portrayed Scooby-Doo for over twenty years. Alongside him, Matthew Lillard, known for his role as Shaggy in the live-action Scooby-Doo films and several animated adaptations, reprises his vocal role in this series.
Adam Lewinson, Tubi’s chief content officer, emphasized the significance of this new take on the franchise, stating that “Yokoso Scooby-Doo!” allows fans to experience the characters in a bold new anime setting. He highlighted how the series connects with global audiences by blending familiar elements with fresh storytelling, aiming to deliver fun, energetic mysteries that resonate across generations.
Sam Register, president of Warner Bros. Animation, Cartoon Network Studios, and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe, expressed enthusiasm about this collaboration. He welcomed the partnership with Tubi and praised the creative work of OLM’s artists, promising an exciting blend of classic Scooby-Doo hijinks and anime-style artistry. Fans can expect new mysteries, signature humor, and plenty of Scooby Snacks in this fresh chapter of the franchise.
The series is directed by Itsuro Kawasaki with co-producer Francisco Paredes supporting production. Warner Bros. Animation leads the project with production services by OLM in Japan, emphasizing a cross-cultural creative effort.
This new anime show joins a growing slate of Scooby-Doo content, including Netflix’s upcoming live-action series Scooby-Doo: Origins. As the franchise continues to evolve, Yokoso Scooby-Doo! stands out as a unique exploration of the beloved characters in a distinctive setting with an anime-inspired twist.
Fans of Scooby-Doo can look forward to an adventurous journey filled with mystery-solving and monster encounters, all wrapped in the energetic style of Japanese animation, arriving soon on Tubi.
