AceShowbiz - Haruomi Hosono, co-founder of the groundbreaking Japanese electronic group Yellow Magic Orchestra, has announced the upcoming release of his 23rd studio album, Sincerely Yours, set for September 11 via Ghostly International.

In a statement about the new project, Hosono shared, "I am now 78 years old, but from here on, I feel a growing curiosity toward the unknown music that my new self will create, while also embracing the music of my former self—as if I now carry two musical worlds within me."

Alongside the album release, Hosono will perform two live shows in the United States: one at New York’s Radio City Music Hall on September 16 and another at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on September 20.

Formed in Tokyo in the late 1970s, Yellow Magic Orchestra was known for pioneering electronic music that rivaled contemporaries like Kraftwerk. Their innovative work influenced a wide range of genres including techno, ambient, and synth-pop. Beyond electronic music, Hosono’s contributions with YMO, his folk-rock band Happy End, and his solo career have inspired artists such as Mac DeMarco, Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig, and even pop star Harry Styles.

In a 2022 interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, Styles revealed that his album Harry’s House was named in tribute to Hosono. Styles recounted, "He had an album in the ’70s called Hosono House. I spent that little chunk in Japan and heard that record, and I was like, ‘I love that.’"

Hosono House, released in 1973, was Hosono’s debut solo album and features 11 charming rock and folk-rock tracks. This early work helped establish his reputation as a versatile and influential musician.

With the upcoming album and live performances, Hosono continues to explore new musical territories while honoring his rich musical past, demonstrating his enduring influence on generations of artists worldwide.
