AceShowbiz - Katharine McPhee delivered a heartfelt performance in support of reality star Spencer Pratt during a recent fundraiser hosted by McPhee and her husband, David Foster, at their Brentwood Park residence in Los Angeles.
The upscale backyard event took place over the weekend and was organized to back Pratt's campaign for the Los Angeles mayoral race. A video shared by news reporter Alicia Summers on Instagram captured the moment when Foster, 76, accompanied his wife at the keyboard as she sang a reworked version of Tina Turner’s classic hit “The Best.”
In her rendition, McPhee praised Pratt, declaring he was “better than [LA Mayor] Karen Bass and [LA Councilmember] Nithya Raman,” the two main contenders against Pratt in the mayoral race. The performance, however, included a lighthearted slip-up when McPhee mistakenly called Raman “Cynthia.” Upon realizing the error, McPhee mentioned it, and Pratt shrugged, showing amusement at the mix-up.
Summers encapsulated the atmosphere of the event on Instagram, noting, “You know the tide is turning in California when @DavidFoster and @katharinefoster open their home and write a song for @SpencerPratt.” She added that Los Angeles might be in for a “plot twist” with the upcoming election.
Besides the musical performance, the fundraiser attracted notable attendees, including film producer Brian Grazer. The gathering highlighted the growing support for Pratt, who transitioned into politics following the loss of his home in the devastating 2025 Palisades wildfires.
Since launching his campaign in January, Pratt has emphasized key issues such as reducing crime, tackling the homelessness crisis, and criticizing how current city leadership has managed wildfire responses. His platform seeks to appeal to voters concerned about these ongoing challenges.
Several celebrities have publicly endorsed Pratt’s mayoral bid. Among them is Jeanie Buss, minority owner of the Los Angeles Lakers, who contributed the maximum allowed donation of $1,800 to his campaign. Other supporters include actor Jamie Kennedy, political commentator Meghan McCain, and reality TV personalities Jonathan Cheban, Jax Taylor, and Kristin Cavallari.
The election to determine the next Los Angeles mayor is set for November 3, marking a pivotal moment for the city’s leadership. With increasing celebrity endorsements and public attention, Pratt’s campaign is gaining momentum as the race intensifies.
This fundraiser at the Foster residence not only showcased McPhee’s vocal talents but also underscored the merging of entertainment and politics in Los Angeles’ vibrant civic landscape. As the election approaches, all eyes remain on the candidates vying to lead one of America’s largest cities.
