AceShowbiz - Will Smith has secured a significant legal victory as a California judge dismissed the sexual harassment lawsuit filed against him by violinist Brian King Joseph.
The lawsuit, which has been unresolved since early 2026, was thrown out because the judge found the claims did not meet the legal standards required to proceed. This ruling marks a clear win for Will Smith amid the controversy.
Brian King Joseph, who toured with Smith in 2025, alleged that an unknown person entered his Las Vegas hotel room and left a note signed with an alias tied to Smith. The lawsuit claimed that the intruder also left items such as wipes, beer, and HIV medications, which King Joseph said were part of a disturbing pattern intended to groom him for sexual contact.
King Joseph also asserted he was terminated after reporting the incident to tour management. However, the judge ruled that the behavior outlined in the lawsuit was neither severe nor consistent enough to constitute sexual harassment under California law.
A critical factor in the dismissal was the fact that King Joseph had left his room key in a bag placed in a shared van with other crew members for approximately two hours before regaining possession. This gap made it impossible to prove that only Smith or his team had access to the room, undermining the foundation of the claim.
Will Smith's legal team argued the case was without merit from the start. They characterized the lawsuit as a "frivolous" attempt at a "money grab" filled with "false and salacious allegations."
The defense also maintained that King Joseph’s dismissal was due to valid professional reasons, including repeated tardiness and erratic behavior during the tour, rather than any wrongdoing by Smith or his management.
This court decision effectively clears Will Smith of the allegations and puts an end to the ongoing legal dispute stemming from the claims made by King Joseph.
