AceShowbiz - Bryan Adams has reached an impressive milestone, joining YouTube Music's Billion Views Club for the second time with the performance video of his classic ballad (Everything I Do) I Do It For You.
The iconic 1991 track, which famously accompanied the film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves starring Kevin Costner, has now surpassed one billion views on the platform.
(Everything I Do) I Do It For You was a monumental hit upon release, paralleling the box office success of the film it was featured in. It became one of Adams' four songs to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, where it impressively stayed at the top spot for seven consecutive weeks—marking his longest reign on the U.S. singles chart.
Across the Atlantic, the song enjoyed an unprecedented 16-week run at No. 1 on the Official U.K. Singles Chart. This remains the longest consecutive stretch at No. 1 in the chart’s history, cementing its place as a timeless classic on both sides of the ocean.
The ballad was the lead single from Adams' album Waking Up the Neighbours, which itself topped the U.K. Albums Chart and the Australian ARIA Chart while reaching No. 6 on the Billboard 200 in the United States.
The film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves was a major commercial success as well, ranking second among the highest-grossing movies of 1991 with a box office total of $390 million. It stood just behind Terminator 2: Judgment Day, which earned $520 million that year, and significantly outperformed another Robin Hood film released the same year, starring Patrick Bergin.
Adams had previously entered YouTube’s Billion Views Club with his 1993 ballad Please Forgive Me, making this his second song to reach that exclusive milestone.
The official black and white music video for (Everything I Do) I Do It For You was filmed in Miami, Florida in 1992 and directed by Andy Morahan. The video remains available to watch in full on YouTube, continuing to attract new generations of fans.
The song was co-written by Adams, Robert "Mutt" Lange, and Michael Kamen, combining their talents to create a timeless anthem that has stood the test of time both on the charts and online.
