AceShowbiz - Kehlani has reached a major milestone by claiming their first No. 1 spot on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart with their self-titled album released on April 24 through Tsunami Mob/Atlantic Records.
The album debuted with an impressive 69,000 equivalent album units in the United States during the tracking week of April 24-30, according to data from Luminate. This achievement marks a notable progression for Kehlani, who previously peaked twice at No. 2 on this chart with their earlier albums SexySweetSavage in February 2017 and It Was Good Until It Wasn’t in May 2020.
Of the 69,000 units earned, streaming activity accounted for 45,000 units, driven by 45.37 million official on-demand streams of tracks from the album. Traditional album sales contributed 24,000 units, while track-equivalent sales made up a minimal portion of the total. To clarify, one album unit can be equivalent to one complete album sale, 10 individual track sales from the album, or 1,000 paid or subscription-based streams, or 2,500 ad-supported streams of official on-demand audio and video.
This latest success extends Kehlani's streak of top 10 placements on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart to seven consecutive releases, underscoring their consistent performance in the genre. Alongside their No. 1 debut on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, the album also launched at No. 1 on the Top R&B Albums chart, marking their fourth chart-topper there, and entered the all-genre Billboard 200 at No. 4.
Kehlani's current chart domination is closely linked to the success of their single "Folded." The song reached No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 in January, becoming their first top 10 hit on that chart. It also secured the No. 1 position on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, where it held the top spot for five consecutive weeks.
Moreover, "Folded" is nearing a record on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart. It has led the airplay ranking for 15 weeks, just one week shy of tying the record set by Future’s 2022 hit "Wait for U," featuring Drake and Tems. This level of airplay dominance highlights the track’s widespread appeal and endurance on radio.
The album’s influence is especially evident on the Hot R&B Songs chart, where "Folded" sits at No. 2, followed closely by 11 other tracks from the album among the top 25. Ten of these tracks are making their chart debut. This surge brings Kehlani's total career appearances on the Hot R&B Songs chart to 60, a significant achievement on the 13-year-old ranking.
Here is a summary of Kehlani’s placements on this week’s Hot R&B Songs chart:
No. 2, "Folded" (previously five weeks at No. 1)

On April 29, during Billboard’s 2026 Women In Music event held at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, Kehlani was honored with the Impact award, celebrating their contributions and influence within the music industry.
This latest album and its standout single signify a breakthrough moment for Kehlani, marking the peak of their chart success to date and highlighting their continued relevance and artistry in R&B and hip-hop.
