AceShowbiz - Lauren Sanderson made waves earlier this year with her intense rap-rock track "Come Say Sum," a song that channels the raw energy reminiscent of Limp Bizkit’s iconic 1999 hit "Break Stuff."
Building on that momentum, the rising alternative artist has now collaborated with Fred Durst, frontman of Limp Bizkit, for a remix of the single, which was released on Wednesday, May 6. This partnership marks a significant moment as Sanderson’s admiration for Durst’s work comes to life through this creative fusion.
In a statement, Sanderson reflected on the unexpected opportunity: "Did I know this song had magic in it? Yes. Did I think Fred Durst would discover it and bring my Lez Bizkit dreams to life? Probably not." This collaboration has clearly been a milestone for the artist, bringing together her musical influences and personal aspirations.
The music video for the remix vividly captures the chaotic energy shared by both artists. Set in a diner transformed into a frenzy of rebellious spirit, the clip highlights their dynamic connection and shared artistic vision. Sanderson describes their creative relationship as a "serendipitous collision," emphasizing the natural chemistry from their first conversation.
Sanderson explained, "'Come Say Sum' was already about talking your s-t and owning your truth. Ever since the first conversation Fred and I had, I knew this friendship was created by the universe. Some people just have that magic, and when you put Fred and I together ... We are what you call a serendipitous collision."
The original version of "Come Say Sum" has garnered significant attention, accumulating 681,000 official on-demand U.S. streams through April 30, according to Luminate. The track serves as a lead single previewing Sanderson’s upcoming album, LAUREN, which is scheduled for release on May 29 through Pack Records. This forthcoming project will also include previously released singles such as "Spell It Out," "Trampoline," and "Smoking Section."
Looking ahead, Sanderson is set to open for Limp Bizkit on select dates this fall, including performances at The Truth in Nashville on October 11 and 12. Additionally, she was recently announced as a performer at this year’s ACL Fest, further solidifying her rising presence in the music scene.
This collaboration between Lauren Sanderson and Fred Durst not only bridges generational sounds but also highlights the power of artistic synergy in modern music.
