AceShowbiz - Kendra Duggar, wife of Joseph Duggar, was released on bond shortly after her arrest related to serious charges involving a minor. She was taken into custody on Friday and faces multiple counts including second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor and second-degree false imprisonment.
Kendra Duggar was booked at the Washington County Detention Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas, just before 5pm on Friday and was released at 6:19pm the same day after posting a $1,470 bond. The charges against her include four counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor and four counts of second-degree false imprisonment.
Her husband, Joseph Garrett Duggar, known for his appearances on TLC’s reality series 19 Kids and Counting, was arrested earlier in the week. He is accused of child molestation involving a now 14-year-old victim who was nine years old at the time of the alleged incidents in 2020. Joseph faces charges of lewd and lascivious behavior involving a victim under 12 years old and lewd and lascivious behavior toward a victim aged 18 or older, with the charges filed in Florida.
The Tontitown Police Department confirmed on March 20 that both Joseph and Kendra Duggar have been charged as a result of the ongoing investigation. The statement read: “As a result of the continuing investigation, additional charges have been filed in this case against Joseph Duggar, age 31, and Kendra Duggar, age 27.” Both face the same set of charges related to the welfare and false imprisonment of a minor.
Following her release, Kendra Duggar is scheduled to appear in court on Monday at 7:45am, with a subsequent hearing set for April 29. Authorities have emphasized that the investigation remains active and ongoing, and no further details will be released at this time to protect the integrity of the case and privacy of those involved.
The Bay County Sheriff's Department provided additional insight into the allegations against Joseph Duggar. The 14-year-old victim underwent a forensic interview, in which she disclosed multiple incidents that allegedly took place during a family vacation in Panama City Beach when she was nine years old. The victim stated that Duggar manipulated her underwear and grazed her genitals and continued to rub his hands on her thighs. The victim added that the behavior stopped after Duggar apologized.
It was also reported that Joseph Duggar admitted his actions to the victim’s father and to local detectives. Following his arrest in Arkansas on March 18, he is expected to be extradited to Florida to face the charges.
The Duggar family first gained national attention through the TLC series 19 Kids and Counting, which followed the lives of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar and their large family. The show aired for nine seasons before being cancelled amid serious allegations against Josh Duggar, Joseph’s older brother, involving multiple underage girls, including some of his sisters.
Though allegations against Josh Duggar first surfaced in 2003, no charges were initially filed. By the time authorities were notified again in 2006, the statute of limitations had expired. These allegations later became public through media coverage.
At that time, Josh Duggar was employed by the Family Research Council, an evangelical nonprofit organization. The organization’s president issued a statement noting the challenges the situation posed for Josh and his family, expressing prayers for all involved.
Additional allegations of sexual misconduct against Josh Duggar emerged later, including charges of possessing and viewing child exploitation material. Law enforcement officials highlighted the ongoing trauma caused by such crimes and their commitment to investigating and prosecuting offenders.
Ultimately, Josh Duggar was convicted of receiving and possessing child pornography and sentenced to 12 years and seven months in prison.
The current charges and investigation involving Joseph and Kendra Duggar add a new chapter to the Duggar family’s public legal struggles. The case remains under active investigation, and court proceedings will continue in the coming weeks.
