AceShowbiz - The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) unveiled its 2026 ASCAP Latin Music Awards winners during an exclusive ceremony held on May 5 in Miami.
For the third consecutive time, Colombian songwriter Keityn was honored as songwriter of the year. His credits include co-writing major hits such as Karol G and Marco Antonio Solís' "Coleccionando Heridas," Maluma's "Cosas Pendientes," Feid's "Doblexxó," and Nicky Jam and Beéle's "Hiekka."
New York Dominican superstar and self-proclaimed King of Bachata, Romeo Santos, earned the ASCAP Latin songwriter-artist of the year award. This accolade follows his success with recent hits including "Ángel," featuring Grupo Frontera, "Desde Hoy," performed by Natti Natasha, and "Khé," a collaboration with Rauw Alejandro.
The 2026 ASCAP Latin Song of the Year was awarded to "Si Antes Te Hubiera Conocido," performed by Karol G and written by ASCAP songwriter Rios. Released last June, the song was published by Capital Music Puerto Rico LLC and Kobalt Music Publishing. It dominated Billboard's Hot Latin Songs chart, holding the No. 1 spot for 14 weeks and recently resurged to No. 6 after Karol G’s headline performance at Coachella.
Daddy Yankee continues to solidify his legacy as the most decorated Latin ASCAP songwriter in history, adding his 63rd and 64th awards for the uplifting anthem "Sonríele" and the sultry "Latina Foreva," performed by Karol G. The reggaetón icon has been recognized at every ASCAP Latin Awards ceremony since 2005.
On the publishing front, Universal Music Publishing Group received the Latin music publisher of the year award for the fourth year in a row. This recognition is attributed to their representation of recent hits by artists such as Bad Bunny and Rauw Alejandro.
Other notable ASCAP Latin honorees include Julito Gastón, who received his first award for co-writing Bad Bunny's global hit "Baile Inolvidable" alongside Antonio Caraballo. Additional winners feature Feid for songs like "Doblexxó," "Háblame Claro," and "Verano Rosa"; Xavi for "En Privado" and "Flores"; Natanael Cano for "PRESIDENTE"; Tito El Bambino for "EoO"; and Danny Ocean for "Imagínate," among others.
The full list of winners and more details are available on the ASCAP website.
