The wreckage and the victims' bodies were recovered five days later from the ocean floor.

According to Simpson, ending the show with the plane crash was a subject of much discussion among the creators. “The plane ride definitely was something that we talked about quite a bit,” he explained. The team debated whether to depict the crash visually or leave it implied, aiming to avoid sensationalizing the tragedy. “We didn’t want to be gratuitous. We didn’t want to turn it into a crazy thrill ride,” Simpson added. The audience spends the entire season emotionally invested in the characters, knowing their story ends in heartbreak.
